Brahma's powers kicked in fairly early. She was always very strong for her age, since she was 6 or 7.
She was 11 years old when she hit a growth spurt and wound up in a gangly, 5'11" frame. Teased and tormented for that, she was very repressed, as she didn't actually want to hurt anyone, despite their treatment of her. Her self esteem dropped even more in later years when she began developing visible muscle instead of curves after puberty hit.

High school can be cruel. When you're a 6 foot 2 mountain of muscle, and NOT a guy, you will be regarded as a freak. Particularly if all and sundry are secure in the belief that you WON'T crush their skulls when they insult you. A sensitive and naive girl, Maggie was devastated. Her spirit broken, she dropped out of school. At 15 there was no hiding herself in the crowd as most sullen teens do, despite the baggy jeans and hooded sweatshirts she favored. At 16, She had finally blossomed into some semblance of womanhood as her body took on a more feminine shape. Her face had always been vaguely pretty, and her natural red hair and green eyes made her stand out... perhaps more than she wanted to, given the circumstances.
Now, she'd developed the curves she had been wanting since age 12, in abundance.
Taut, cord-like thighs smoothed out and rounded themselves, her cut abs partially hid themselves behind an hourglass of flesh and her bosom was now very ample and very noticeable, sitting atop her stout, superstrong ribcage.
Though her arms were now very thick and muscular, the babyfat that hadn't existed before, mostly softened and obscured the huge biceps and ropy veins, at least, until she had cause to flex.

Having dropped out, and hiding it from her parents, particularly her disapproving father, Michael Rhiordan, a contractor for the city, Maggie tried to find work to occupy her days. Ironically, after lying about her age, she got hired by a construction crew that she would later find to be working under her father. Her secret was blown. Their argument was put on hold when a bizarre gang of metahumans and armed paramilitary types "claimed" the construction site for their employer, a Neo-Fascist, underground dwelling monster calling itself 'Basilisk'. The soldiers began firing at the construction workers and Maggie's dad was grazed. Angered, she attacked and made short work of them all. The metas then attacked and overpowered her. The energy caster of the group, called "Strafe", blasted her, full-on in the chest. Maggie was thrown back into a load-bearing I-beam that had just been erected, denting it, and seemed to suffer a very fatal-looking wound. The constructioneers ran, and her father cradled her in his arms, thinking her dead, until her eyes flew open and she let out a deep, wet gasp. She coughed a little blood, and then it happened. Her green eyes turned a glowing light blue and cascaded with energy. She tried to let out a scream but only managed a prolonged grunt backed with a low growl. The burns around her sternum began to simply... unmake themselves. Her massive chest wound closed as though she were made of clay and an invisible hand were sculpting her from the inside out. A bizarre arcane pattern traced itself across her biceps, her calves, and, unseen, the small of her back. Her milky skin began to take on a tannish hue, and her sparking eyes narrowed into almond-shaped epicanted folds. her flaming red hair darkened and darkened into jet black silk.
Her father's jaw dropped to the dirt of the construction site as his daughter rose from what he thought would have to be her burial spot. She seemed to have become even bigger and more muscular, if that was possible. Where his pale, green eyed, fire-haired daughter once stood, there was now an amazonian Asian lass with slightly glowing, ice blue tattoos all across her frame.
She was nearly nude, as what clothes hadn't been burned off her in the initial attack split and splintered from muscle growth. Micheal Rhiordan had to remind himself not to stare, as somehow, this ... 'war goddess' was actually his little girl.

Maggie attacked the small metahuman army with a new resolve, and, surprisingly, some degree of skill. (Unbeknowst to her family, she had actually been wearing a mask and 'fighting crime' sometimes after school, and sneaking out at night, in order to blow off steam from the relentless teasing at school.)

She had taken out the assailants' energy caster, as well as the two cyborgs that had flanked her. It was then that the fire-breathing, malleable enemy called "Wyrm" restrained her to the spot and a small cadre of man-beasts called Skarr, Skayle and Skratch came to eviscerate her, that they who would be her new friends, The Wyld Angels, arrived.

Armada and her clones took out "The Beast Brothers" with debris from the construction site.
The leader of the group, called RazorBlade used his amplified physical prowess to take down the cyborgs.
The speedy Blacktop unravelled Wyrm from his prey and the green energy caster, 'Evil Eye' and the matter-shifter called 'Bayonette' cleaned up the straggling military men.
This brought the enemy leader, the gigantic, monster-man called Basilisk into the fray. Brahma took him on by herself, blow for blow. It was brutal, bloody and bonecrushing, but, in the end, the newly transformed amazon seemed to be too much for the monster. He was broken and unconscious when the police arrived.

During the course of the brutal fight, Brahma had gone through yet another startling transformation. Basilisk had clawed her, just before she clutched him in a wrestling hold. her new Asian incarnation transformed into what looked to be a Native American. She was still very tall, very muscular, and the weird tattoos that manifested themselves earlier were still there, and still glowing dimly, but instead of the ice blue color that they were just moments ago, they were now bright red... almost seemingly for the very purpose of complimenting her new skin.
Her father had to explain all this to her mother and younger sister. If he hadn't seen it, he wouldn't have believed it himself. Of course, this would bring problems later, as Michael Rhiordan, who was not a metahuman, would begin to doubt that Maggie was really his child. Neither Mr. or Mrs. Rhiordan would cop to there being any superpowers in their family line. This bone of contention grew and grew. Maggie's parents would divorce some few years later, and she would move with her mother, younger sister and her best friend and Wyld Angels teammate, Armada, to the other side of the country to make a new start in posh Ocean City, Caloifornia.
But, at that time, these powers were a wonder, and when Wyld Angels' team leader, RazorBlade tracked Maggie down and asked her to join his team, she jumped at the chance to do some good with others her own age, who could relate to what she was going through.

It would be 3 more years until the dissolution of The Wyld Angels in the wake of the "Tyrannis Max" fiasco, but in that 3 years, "Brahma", as Maggie called herself, would 'heal' her way into a new body many, MANY times, but she would also learn a lot about herself, superheroing, the way the world works, and self esteem with a little help from her friends.
After serving with her new team, The StarBrats for a while, her mother, Kate, would break down and tell Maggie the truth of her lineage, a tryst with a superhero called Herakles, who'd once saved her life. It was a rash mistake, but, it resulted in the Amazonian heroine daughter that Kate was so very proud of.
